The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) awarded $30 million in 2022 School Maintenance Grants to over 600 applicants.The dollar-for-dollar state matching grant program is offered to school districts, cooperative high schools and special education programs and vocational centers.Eligible applicants could receive a maximum of $50,000 for proposed maintenance projects.​The grants are awarded in order of five priorities:Necessary disaster emergency projectsHealth/life safety remodels or improvements to existing structuresState priority projects;Necessary for energy conservationTo better serve areas receiving funding under the Illinois School CodePermanent improvement projects to upgrade building systems (e.
